Elizabeth Bernard was born on 21 February 1703.2 She was the daughter of Francis Bernard and Alice Ludlow.1,3

She married, firstly, James Caulfeild, 3rd Viscount Charlemont, son of Maj.-Gen. William Caulfeild, 2nd Viscount Charlemont and Anne Margetson.4 She married, secondly, Thomas Adderley on 9 October 1740.2 She died on 20 May 1743 at age 40, in childbirth.2,5 She was buried at Armagh Cathedral, Armagh, County Armagh, IrelandG.2

After her marriage, Elizabeth Bernard was styled as Viscountess Charlemont. Her married name became Caulfeild. From 9 October 1740, her married name became Adderley.4
