The date 28 Oct 1861 came later. When her year of birth is evaluated in comparison with the other children in the family, the year 1864 works best. It is felt the date recorded in her father's journal, 27 Oct 1864 is the correct one.

Rec has her birth as 27 Oct 1866 & later on in this record it has her birth as 28 Oct 1861. The records closest to the event lists 27 Oct with years as 1863, 1864, 1866 as her birth. The date 28 Oct 1861 came later. When her year of birth is evaluated in comparison with the other children in the family, the year 1864 works best. It is felt the date recorded in her father's journal, 27 Oct 1864 is the correct one.

There is a discrepancy concerning Elizabeth Eleanor's birthdate; namely, 27 Oct 1864, 27 Oct 1866, or 28 Oct 1861. In the first section of the Oak City Ward records, her birthdate is recorded as 27 Oct 1866, then later it is recorded as 28 Oct 1861. This later date was recorded in the ward records after her marriage. In the 1870 census of Fillmore, Millard County she is listed as being five years old on 24 June 1870. In Oct 1870 she turned six years old; thus, making her calculated year of birth 1864. It is impossible for Elizabeth to have been born in Oct 1861. This would make Elizabeth being born three months before her older brother, Joseph Willard. Neither would the year 1866 be a possibility because her younger brother Christopher Columbus was born 19 Feb 1867. This would make him four months old when Elizabeth was born.

An evaluation of all the sources which record her birthdate shows that the earliest recorded sources have her birthdate as 27 Oct 1864. I feel that this is the correct date.
