About Elizabeth Fairbourn

Our "Beth with the Happy Smiling Eyes" was born July 22, 1921 in Highland, UT to James Hurren Wight and Louisa Armstrong. She moved to the Wight family home in Draper, UT in 1934 where she lived for 74 years. She left this life at home surrounded by her loving family. Beth married her eternal sweetheart, Clyde LeGrand Fairbourn on January 10, 1946 in the Mesa, Arizona Temple. She shared a sweet and tender relationship with him that will last through the eternities. She was a gracious and noble woman who blessed the lives of all who came in contact with her. Her family was the most important thing in her life. She doted over their every need, and extended that love and devotion to everyone around her.

She made a fuss over each person who entered her life because she truly believed every one was special and wanted to make sure they felt that way. Beth's home was open to all family and friends and she could make everyone feel like it was their home too. She had a real memory for names and details and was often called upon by her numerous friends to keep their stories straight. She loved all of God's children and made everyone her friend. She was well-known for her beautiful handwriting; receiving a hand-written note from Beth was a delightful treat. She was humble and humorous, wise and witty, lively and loving. She worked hard and made herself indispensable wherever she was working. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she provided many years of service in Primary, Sunday School, Cub Scouts, and Relief Society. She was an excellent teacher of youth. She had a young spirit that spoke to their hearts. They loved her and many kept in touch with her throughout her life. Beth also served eight years as a missionary and guide at Temple Square and 14 years as an ordinance worker at Jordan River Temple side by side with her husband. She always had a calling in the church even until her passing. She loved to write letters to missionaries and was so proud of Her 23 missionaries. She loved the Lord and lived her life to please him.

Beth is survived by her husband, Clyde L. Fairbourn; her five children including sons, C. David (Julie), E. LeGrand (Joann), Paul J. (Karen), Marvin W. (Dana); and daughter, Connie (David) Rowell; 22 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Geneva W. Adamson; brother, Ellery J. Wight. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Craig Fairbourn; her parents; a sister, Fern Frost; a brother, Roy Wight.

Funeral Services will be held at the Corner Canyon Stake Center, 1300 E 13366 S., Draper, Utah, on Sat., April 26 at 11 a.m. Viewings will be held at the same location Friday April 25 from 6-8 p.m. and from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the Funeral Services on Saturday.
