  • GREGORY ISHAM, who d. 4 Sept. 1558, last of Philip and Mary. He m. ELIZABETH, dau. of MATTHEW DALE, of Bristol, who after his decease, had to her second husband William Roswell, Esq., solicitor-general to Queen Elizabeth. By her he was father of Sir Euseby, Thomas, Mary, the second wife (and by whom he only left issue) of Thomas Andrews, Esq. of Charwelton, who seems to be the sheriff of Northamptonshire, according to Camden, that attended on Mary, Queen of Scots, to her execution, at Fotheringhay Castle; and Elizabeth, m. to Henry Cave, Esq. of Ingarsby, in the co. of Leicester. The son and heir,

Based on her marriage date, Elizabeth Dale was born about 1525.<ref name="Marriage"/> She was the daughter of Mathew Dale of Bristol and theCity of London, a wealthy haberdasher.<ref name="elizabeth1"/><ref name="Isham"/> (Mathew wrote his Will on 20 July 1549 and signed and sealed it on 4 April 1550. In it he mentioned sons Henry, James, John, and Matthew; son and heir William; daughter Mary Marler; my cousin Robert Dale; Henry Wyott, my sister’s son; sons in law Walter Marler andGregory Isham, and to each of their wives I give a black gown; my cousin Elizabeth Dale, my brother William’s daughter a black gown; Roger Dale my cousin.<ref>Will of Mathew Dale: The National Archives; Kew,England; Prerogative Court of Canterbury and Related Probate Jurisdictions: Will Registers; Class: PROB 11; Piece: 33.
