About Elizabeth "Lizzie" Schweitzer
Lizzie as she was called made her home with her eldest sister, Sue Bach, upon the sale of the family farm in 1905. Soon she was outr on her own taking what jobs she could find. she worked as a hotel maid in New Hampton, and a priest's housekeeper in Alta Vista. In 1914 she worked at a hotel in Le Roy, Minnesota and would frequently visit her sister Anna Kasel in Taopi. She married when she was "crowding 30", when she met Jack Schweitzer while working in Springfield, Minnesota as a hotel cook. jack and Lizzie were married by Fr. Mike in Chicago on January 21, 1919. Eventually they made their home in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. There Jack operated a roofing business and they raised three daughters. jack died in 1956 at the age of 72. Lizzie was still living at the time the family history was compiled in her own home into the 1980's and later a nursing home.
