About Elizabeth Powney
BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE:
1. Elizabeth Lawrence, daughter of Richard and Ann Lawrence, born in Hilmarton and baptized there on November 14th., 1762. On February 15th., 1787, in Hilmarton, she married George Powney, of this parish, by banns, in the presence of Richard Lawrence. Elizabeth Pownie mentioned in Richard’s will of 1812. George and Elizabeth had issue:
i) William Powney, born in Hilmarton, Wilts, in 1788, bp there on March 2nd., 1788. He died in Wiltshire, in c1847.
ii) Benjamin Powney, born in Westbrook, Bromham, Wilts, in 1790.
iii) John Powney, born about 1792, in Bromham, Wilts. John died in Devizes, Wilts, about Q3 of 1873.
iv) Christian Powney, born about 1796, in Bromham, Wilts.
v) Elizabeth Powney, born about 1802, in Bromham, Wilts.
