William Russell sailed to Essex Co., MA, perhaps around the age of 26 or a bit earlier, and settled in Salem, Essex, Massachusetts about 1673/4. He was a fisherman employed on Salem fishing vessels working the Grand Bank, and became a landowner in Salem, MA through a gift from Michaell Shaflin.

- 3. Ebenezer Russell B-3/7/1688 at Reading, MA, died between 9/15/1761 and 2/12/1762 at Ellington Parish, Windsor, CT; m. Deborah Hibbard on 9/25/1710 at Andover, MA, daughter of Samuel Hibbard and his wife Mary Bond. She was born on 7/19/1685 at Beverly, MA. They lived in North Reading, MA until as late as 1738. The births of their children were recorded at Reading 1712-1730.
