Elizabeth Throckmorton

Elizabeth Hussey was the daughter of John Hussey, 1st Baron Hussey of Sleaford. [who was executed in 1537] and Margaret Blount. [When Anne nee Grey Hussey, the second wife of John Hussey wrote her will in 1543, she refers to her two daughters & of the 4 younger daughters of John Hussey, two are still living. If Elizabeth was her daughter also, that would make 3, so it is assumed that Elizabeth is the daughter of Margaret Blount, the first wife]

She was married to Walter Hungerford in October 1532 as his third wife. After the execution of her father [perhaps seeing his wife as an impediment to his career], Walter apparently kept her imprisioned in a tower for years, scarcely feeding her of providing her with water.

Hungerford left two sons,[14] and two daughters,none by his third wife ... His treatment of Elizabeth was remarkable for its brutality. In an appeal for protection which she addressed to Thomas Cromwell in about 1536,[12] she asserted that he kept her incarcerated at Farleigh for three or four years, made some fruitless attempts to divorce her, and endeavoured on several occasions to poison her.[13] After Hungerford's execution, she became the second wife of Sir Robert Throckmorton(d.1581).[9]

Together with Robert she had four daughters; Muriel (who would later have a son, Francis Tresham, one of the members of the Gun Powder Plot), Anne, Elizabeth and Temperance. The children in the painting are presumed to be her daughters and a son apparently named George.
