Elizabeth Lavinia Thurgood

Elizabeth Thurgood, wife of the late William Thurgood, passed away on Friday at the home of her son William, in Syracuse, Davis County, Utah. She had been at Syracuse visiting with her children for a little over a month. A year ago last September, she was afflicted with "progressive" paralysis and for more than a year she has been helpless. She was born in England and had reached the age of sixty-four years, two days before her demise. She emigrated to Utah in 1862 and was married the same year after her arrival here to William Thurgood and has always resided in Bountiful where her husband for many years kept the Bountiful Co-op Store. The deceased leaves seven children, three boys and four girls, all of whom are married and twenty-five grandchildren to mourn her loss.

The remains were brought to Bountiful for burial on Saturday, and the funeral services were held in the West ward meeting house Sunday at 2 p.m. The speakers were C.R. Jones, John Kynaston, James G. Wood, Judson Tolman, C.W. Stayner and Bishop Grant.
