Elizabeth Vegter-Kiner

Elizabeth Vegter-Kiner, 86, of Morrison, IL, died Sunday, March 31, 2013, surrounded by her family, at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Morrison, IL.

Liz was born January 4, 1927, in Morrison, IL, to Murray and Jennie (Hook) Ritchie. She graduated from Morrison High School in Morrison, IL. Liz married Jacob Vegter on December 2, 1947, in Morrison, IL. He died December 2, 1988. She later married Roland "Dale" Kiner in 1995 in Morrison, IL. He died July 13, 2005.

She was first a homemaker while raising her children. She later worked at Fitzgerald Pharmacy in Morrison. Liz was a member of the Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison where she was active in the couples club and the Philathia Society. She was also a member of the Morrison and Prophetstown Country Clubs. Liz was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bulls fan. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include one daughter, Jan (Jeff) Kimmel; two sons, Robert (Barb) Vegter and Daniel (Sarah) Vegter; one step son, Jeff Kiner; seven grandchildren, John (Katie) Kimmel, Jennie (Jake) Adamson, Jill (Stuart) Turner, Robert (Cathleen) Vegter, Kelli (Bryan) Dunn, Andrea Vegter, and Lindsay (Kevin) Cox; four step grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren, Brock, Karli, and Blake Adamson; Keilee and McKenlee Kimmel; Brooklyn Turner; Ashley, Bryce, and Jacob Vegter; Tyler, Mason, Wesley, and Taylor Dunn; and Collin Cox; nine step great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Jane Connelly; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Jacob Vegter; her second husband, Dale Kiner; one son, Thomas Vegter; one step son, Jon Kiner; one grandson, Aaron Vegter; and two brothers, Robert and George Ritchie.
