Thomas Wortham, son of George Wortham, Jr. and Anne of Wortham Hill, Urbanna, Middlesex County, VA Elizabeth Taliaferro, daughter of Richard Taliaferro and Rose Berryman of Port Royal, Caroline County, VA
Thomas and Elizabeth Wortham moved from Amherst County, VA to Wilkes County, GA ca. 1799-1800. They owned land on the waters of Pistol Creek, in the Broad River Settlement south of the Broad River. Elizabeth was the aunt of Benjamin Taliaferro, noted early Georgia statesman. The Worthams are probably buried in a now lost cemetery to the north of Friendship Cemetery, along with the Taliaferros, Harvies, Penns and other related families. Friendship Cemetery is the closest extant old cemetery to their land. The Cade family owned the adjoining farm and their descendants are buried here in Friendship.
Note: Elizabeth Taliaferro is listed as having married Zach Hawkins in a few online sources. This is incorrect. Please contact me if you need further information.
