[Lizzie was born in Germany and came to the U.S. with her family sometime between 1865-1867, which meant the family was possibly in Chicago during the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. Charles was born in Iowa and his family was listed in the 1870 U.S. Census for Chicago, so they also were probably in Chicago during the Chicago Fire. It appears that Lizzie was married to a Thomas A. Blackburn on 26 Jan 1881, but Thomas may have died, divorced or left Lizzie before 1884. No record has been found to date. Charles and Elizabeth appear to have met in Chicago sometime between 1880-1884, and were married in Chicago in June 1884.]
