Mrs. Ellen Veazey Jordan Voshell, 93 passed away peacefully on August 19th, at Bay Lake Retirement and Assisted Living Community in Virginia Beach. Born in Petersburg, Va., she was the daughter of the late Joseph B. Veazey and Sally M. Veazey. Ellen graduated from Petersburg High School and soon after married James A. Jordan, Jr. As newlyweds, Jim served in WWII and Ellen cared for their first child James A. Jordan, III. In 1956, Jimmy and Ellen moved to the Thoroughgood neighborhood of Virginia Beach and subsequently had their second child Robin. Ellen had an impeccable sense of style, and her smile was captivating. Some of her personal interests included music, gardening, decorating, painting and tennis. Ellen and Jim enjoyed playing bridge, dancing, community activities, boating, travelling and making long lasting friendships with their neighbors. Ellen was a member of the Thoroughgood Garden Club, and Bayside Presbyterian Church where she was a choir member, womens circle member and enjoyed arranging flowers for Sunday church services. In 1999, Ellen married Dr. Thomas H. Voshell, Jr. finding great companionship and purpose in their later years. Tom and Ellen were able to travel extensively, they enjoyed their beautiful home and neighborhood bike rides. Tom was a true blessing to Ellen and the family. Ellen is predeceased by her husband James A. Jordan, Jr., married 46 years, her second husband Dr. Thomas H. Voshell, Jr. married 10 years; six brothers and four sisters; grandson Scott Jordan; stepdaughter Patricia Dedio; stepson Thomas H. Voshell, III. Left to cherish her memory is son James A. Jordan, III (Andrea) of Chesapeake Beach, MD, daughter Robin Jordan Stenger of Virginia Beach, stepdaughter Joan Werner, stepson Russell Voshell (Lorrie) both of Virginia Beach; three grandchildren, Amie Jordan, Maegan Jordan Conner (Jason) and Cory Stenger (Kelly); four great-grandchildren, Payton, Corbin, Jacob and Brycen and many nieces and nephews. The family thanks Bay Lake Retirement and Assisted Living Community for their many years of outstanding love and care of Ellen and the team at Kindred Hospice for their compassionate care. The family also wishes to thank all of Ellen's friends for their loving cards and visits over the years. The family will receive friends from 7-8 pm on Thursday August 23, 2018 in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Rd Chapel. A funeral Service will be held on Friday at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel followed by interment in Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery.
