Angus Kippen, the son of Robert and Christy Kippen, was born in 1882 in Glengary County, Ontario, and in 1887 accompanied his parents and sister to Willow Vale Township in Bottineau County. He attended the first school in Willow Vale Township and then began farming at an early age.

In 1920 he married Ellen Albertson of Rolla, North Dakota. Ellen was born in 1889 and came to Omemee in 1917 to teach in the Omemee School. Angus and Ellen farmed his father's homestead in Willow Vale Township and also managed the Omemee Co-op Supply for five years. Angus died in 1968 after farming for over 70 years and progressing from oxen to horses to tractors as the power source. Angus and Ellen were active in the Omemee Community.

They were members of the Omemee Presbyterian Church where Ellen served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. Ellen taught in Omemee for five years, served on the Omemee school board for twenty-five years, and directed many community plays. Ellen taught school in the Freedom District of California for ten years and then moved into Bottineau where she maintained her own home until 1982. Angus and Ellen had two children: Joy (Sanders) and Charles Kippen. An infant daughter died at birth
