Came to the US on the Lamb, one of several ships which accompanied William Penn in the Welcome to establish a colony of Quakers in Pennsylvania. Was accompanied on the voyage by 5 sons, one of which (Ralph) came over on the Friends Adventure. She may have died on the voyage, as there are no records of her afterwards. Her children settled in Bucks County, PA, and most relocated to Southern NJ shortly thereafter.
The following site traces Abraham's ancestry back to Ellen:

Ellen was a member of the Settle Monthly Meeting, West Riding, Yorkshire, England. When Quakers move from one Meeting to another, they must take a "certificate of removal" to the new meeting proving that they are members in good standing. When the Quakers from Settle came to Pennsylvania, they brought the certificate from there to Pennsylvania, which is known as the Settle Certificate.
It is a matter of much debate whether Ellen's maiden name is Stackhouse, and is therefore the daughter of Thomas Stackhouse. The following site takes a look at some of the evidence: http://www.the-roundup.com/quaker/smith/smithroots.html
The following impressive site traces Ellen (Stackhouse) Cowgill back to a gigantic tree, including Old King Coel born 125 AD; Duncan I, King of Scotland, killed by Macbeth; Charlemagne; William the Conqueror; and kings of Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway, England, Scotland, Flanders, Ireland, Kvenland, France, Burgundy, Germany, North Umberland, Kiev, The Holy Roman Empire, etc. http://www.ancestors-genealogy.com/vross/10616.html
