SMITH, ELMA ROBINSON
In her early life, she was a telephone operator and was a joy and blessing to all who knew her. She died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at 6:05 a.m. at Zachary Manor Nursing Home. She was 93, born in Olive Branch/Clinton and a resident of Zachary. Visiting was at Charlet Funeral Home Inc., Zachary, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, with recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. Visiting at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until service at 1 p.m. Friday, conducted by the Rev. Kenny Laird. Burial in St. Isidore Catholic Church Cemetery, Baker. Survived by a daughter, Doris S. Bourgeois of Huntington Beach, Calif.; a son, Emmett R. Jr. and Dolores Ard Smith of Baton Rouge; grandchildren, Pamela A. and Nicky Vaccaro, Hammond, Michael G. and Charlene McCoy Smith, Danny P. Bourgois and Lynn M. and Jim Kennedy, all of Zachary, and Bradley D. and Nicole Smith, Baton Rouge; 12 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Ratcliff Smith; parents, John R. and Mary Robinson; a brother, John Louis Robinson; and a sister, Anita Robinson Goff. Pallbearers will be Michael G. Smith, Danny P. Bourgeois, Bradley Smith, Jim Kennedy, Nicky Vaccaro and Clovis "Pete" Goff. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Zachary. She was a past member of the Altar Guild at St. Gerard Catholic Church and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
