About Elmer Joseph Stacy, Sr.
Brother Edmund, Uncle Cuda, used to call Elmer 'Tony' when they were young. Later, Elmer's son Dan dubbed him 'Sam' after a character in the book "God's Little Acres" When Linnea first went to Escanaba she only knew him as 'Sam' because that is what everyone called him.
Elmer's first job was a fireman for the railroad. He worked his way up to Engineer. Elmer was suspended temporarily from the railroad when a bum riding in a train car fell off and died. At this time he went to work as a motorcycle cop. He later returned to Engineering with the Railroad.
