Obituary. The Iron Mountain News, November 2, 1960. "Former Kingsford Man Dies. Elwyn C Anderson 57, of Manistique, former Kingsford resident, died at 2:30 Wednesday morning at the Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital, following an illness of the past three years. Born April 16, 1903 in Manistique, Mr Anderson moved to Kingsford in 1923, where he was employed by the Ford Motor Company for a period of 10 years. He returned to Manistique in 1935, where he became active in the well-drilling business with his father who entered the well-drilling profession there in 1900. He later entered this field on his own in that area. Married to the former Lillian Hirn of Kingsford in 1928, he was a member of the First Baptist Church and also a member of the Civil Air Patrol. He also served on the Manistique Township school board for a period of four years. He leaves his wife, two daughters, Mrs Clyde (Sally) Peterson, of Clawson, Mich, and Mrs Robert (Helen) Holliday, of Escanaba, two sons, Calvin, of Eugene, Oregon, and Elwyn Jr, at home, his mother, Mrs Amiel Anderson of Kingsford, a brother Glen C Anderson, of Quinnesec, and nine grandchildren. Friends may call at the Kefauvar-Jackson Funeral Home in Manistique beginning at 2 tomorrow afternoon. Services will be held at 2 Saturday afternoon at the funeral home. Rev. Eckstein will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Manistique.
