Ben M. Angel notes: The actual date of birth is unknown. Placement of the date of 1356 apparently comes from assigning a year halfway between the start of Edward III's rule (assigned as the period during which his father was alive), and the estimated date of birth for his son, Thomas. Although estimation software (as transmitted by numerous GEDCOM files) places his date of death as 1411, it's probably better to respect the sources that place his date of death during the reign of Richard II.
