According to the 1960s memoirs of a member of the Löwy family (Vally Schwager): Emilie was the only one of her father Ferdinand’s children who was able to remain in their home village of Netluk (Pnětluky, neighbourhood Podsedice, district Litoměřice) during and after the second world war. She had married a neighbour and non-Jew and so was saved from Nazi persecution. Eventually the couple were allowed to rent rooms in the former Löwy house before moving to Nové Kopiště near Terezín to be nearer their daughter and grandson.
