About Emily Eveline Clarke
Emily was 28 when she married James Clarke.
Emily was very good at crocheting and she made a small cream bag for Lynette, which Nicole has.
Emily had a brother, Andrew, who did balloon jumps at fairs. He went by the name of Captain Lorraine. Soon after he was married he went to a fair in Christchurch. As the story goes, the winds picked up just before his jump and he was carried out to sea. The tragedy is that just before his jump he lent his knife to someone and did not get it back. He landed at sea but was unable to cut himself free from his parachute and was never seen again, presumed drowned.
Andrew is buried a O'Neill's Cemetery off Bayswater Road with his parents, James and Emily.
