Emily Sergeant

[The following, downloaded by Michael R Delahunt in 2010 from http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/n/i/l/Stephen-S-Niles/GE..., refers to a woman named Sara Sergeant, who was born in 1787, the same year Emily is said to have been born. Perhaps these two women are the same, but are known by two separate names.]

"SARA SERGEANT was born June 04, 1787, and died Unknown. She married REV. SILAS CHURCHILL October 25, 1824 in Stockbridge, Berkshire Co., Massachusetts, son of CHARLES CHURCHILL and LYDIA BELDEN. He was born April 05, 1769 in Newington, Hartford Co., Connecticut, and died March 01, 1854 in New Lebanon, Columbia Co., New York.

REV. SILAS CHURCHILL graduated from Yale College.

On the same web page are notes about a woman named Lucy codner Sergeant, but there is no identification of her parents. She is among descendants of rev. John sergeant, but how is not specified.

"LUCY CODNER SERGEANT was born August 31, 1789 in Stockbridge, Berkshire Co., Massachusetts, and died August 31, 1876 in Binghamton, Broome Co., New York. She married DR. M. D. SILAS WEST February 03, 1820 in Binghamton, Broome Co., New York, son of ANAH WEST and SPOUSE UNKNOWN. He was born March 11, 1793 in Watervliet, Albany Co., New York, and died August 27, 1859 in Binghamton, Broome Co., New York.

Notes for DR. M. D. SILAS WEST:

"In 1823, Dr. Silas West came from Vernon, in Oneida county. He immediately commenced the practice of medicine, and went also into the druggist business. He continues the practice of medicine still, and has at no time of his village life suspended it. Dr. West studied medicine in Paris, Oneida county, under Dr. Judd, an uncle of Mrs. D.
