Obituary - Preston — Emma Hulet Callan died Monday in the Preston hospital of a short illness at the age of 85.
She was born Feb 1, 1884 at Summit (Iron County), Utah, to Sylvester S. and Mary Elizabeth Dalley Hulet. She married Stephen James Callan Nov 15, 1905 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died Jan. 9, 1922.
She was Franklin County Treasurer for 24 years. She was on the Oneida Stake Relief Society board and active in ward auxiliaries. Mrs. Callan was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
Surviving are six of her seven children—Ross of Montpelier, Mrs. Norma C. Hale of Preston, Mrs. E. L. (Venita) Elwell of Salt Lake City, Mrs. D. N. (OEnone) Meek of Montpelier, Mrs. G. O. (Mary) Lynn of Burbank, Calif.; Mrs. Sam (Virginia) Merrill of Preston; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A son, Golden, preceeded her in death.
Brothers and sisters are Francis of Wendell, Idaho; Albert of Idaho Falls, and Leonard of Preston, Katie Perkins of Jerome, Idaho; Lenora Dees of Idaho Falls; half-brothers and sisters—David of Dillen, Mont.; Sadie Harris and Lettie Sorensen, both of Driggs, Idaho, and Lillian Fulmer of California.
Funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Franklin Stake Center. Viewing will be at Webb Funeral Home Thursday evening from 7:30 to 9:30 and Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
Burial will be in the Dayton Cemetery.
