Emma Despain

It now appears that this Emma Peterson Despain was the wife of Isaac Newton Despain/DeSpain, married on August 16, 1886, in Jefferson county, Iowa. Per marriage information her middle intial was "M", while Aspen Grove cemetery records evidently listed it as "A" - not sure which one is more correct.

Per the marriage information, Emma was born in the "Atlantic Ocean", so presumably her parents were migrating to the United States. The exact birth year may be either 1867 or 1868 due to rounding of age at death. Will use the 1868 birth year for this memorial but with that caution. Her 1886 marriage record listed her age as 19, which would be a DOB year of about 1867.

No Fairfield Iowa newspaper obituary found for Emma - perhaps one was published in the Burlington area?
