Emma Esther Katz

Emma Katz's (nee Heilbrunn) died when she was just 31 years old, after giving birh to her daughter Emma who was named after her. 7 months earlier she lost her only child Louis. Her gravestone can hardly be read. They made gravestones at those days out of soft sandstones that did not withstand the elements. In the Hebrew inscription she is called Esther Eshet Shmuel Bar Yaakov Hacohen - אסתר אשת שמואל בר יעקב הכהן (Esther wife of Samuel son of Yaakov the Kohen) Of her husband's Samuel's large family who died and were buried in Guxhagen's cemetery only four stones can be still found. Those of himself, his fourth wife Malchen, his second wife Emma and their daughter Emma who died at thirteen. The cemetery's list of names has many more members of the family but no gravestones to be found.
