Emsley Bearden, Sr. was a Confederate veteran of the Civil War, enlisting at Randolph, Bibb Co., AL on Arpil 7, 1862 - Pvt. Co. F, 44th Alabama Inf. He was wounded in battle on May 3,1863 and died at a hospital in Richmond, VA. (Source: We Bounteous Beardens, page 5.)
