Encarnacion Vigil

She lived in what is called the "temporal" which is located on the other side of the ditch where the Luis O. Torres road curves towards cousin Joe Torres' house. One day while cooking in the fireplace her clothing caught fire. In panic she ran towards the river by Tia Bernice Torres' house and did not make it. She burned to death before she was halfway to the river.

One wonders if there was any water in the ditch on that month of May? Or did she in her panic cross the ditch thinking only of the river? We'll never know.

She was burried the the old Santisima Trinidad church yard.
