Notes
Kongsrud (I, p. 252) points to Anders Fosvold's error (p. 793/797 - not 973 as Kongsrud says) in that Fostervold obviously misread his patronym to be Simensen, but there can be NO DOUBT that the last letter in his father's name is a "d", which fits with the fact that his eldest son was called Svend. On page 797 he says that Engebret "Simensen" took over Strand after his father. The correct is, as Kongsrud says, that Engebret Svendsen in 1675 took over from Hans Simensen. So Engebret was NOT son of Simen Strand, but possibly married Hans Simensen's widow. Engebret was most likely the son of Svend Engebretsen Nedgarden who inherited that part of Nedgarden that became Landet.
On page 495 Fosvold says that Engebret Svendsen Nedgarden was married to True Tollefsdtr who is listed in tax records as widow from 1673[7] to 1680[8]) (On page 498 he calls her Turi Olsdtr.) All in all, it is more likely that it was Engebret's father who was married to True Tollefsdtr, possibly in a 2nd marriage in the 1650's
