Erchinoald (also Erkinoald and, in French, Erchenout) succeeded Aega as the (fourth) mayor of the palace of Neustria in 641 and succeeded Flaochad in Burgundy in 642 and remained such until his death in 658.

According to Fredegar, he was a relative (consanguineus) of Dagobert I's mother. He was also a son of Ansbertus, and a descendent of the gallo-roman family of Ferrèoli

Erchinoald introduced Balthild, an Anglo-Saxon slave from East Anglia (later canonised), to Clovis II, king of Neustria. The king's marriage to the pious Balthild reinforced Erchinoald's position at court.

Erchinoald himself married Leutsinde. Through her he had a son, Leudesius, who became the mayor of the palace in 675. They also had a daughter, Emma, who may have married the King of Kent.

He died in 658 and was succeeded by Ebroin, chosen by the Frankish nobles.

Erchenaud's father was Ansbertus Moselle and his mother was Blithilde Gaul. His paternal grandparents were Tonantius II Ferreolus Moselle and Outeria Moselle; his maternal grandparents were Prince of Sigermerus Franks Wambert Ferreolus Franks and Deuteria Industria of Reims. He had a brother named Arnoldus.
