About Eric Watts Hudson
Eric, youngest son of Henry and Daisy Hudson, completed his schooling at Newcastle, KZN. He then joined Barclays Bank and was employed at the Ndola branch in Northern Rhodesia (Zambia) at the start of World War II. He joined the SAAF and was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the capacity of a navigator. He married Sheila MacDonald of Port Shepstone a few weeks before leaving for North Africa. He served in Egypt with either No 12 or No 24 Squadron. He was killed on a bombing mission, as Navigator of a SAAF Boston light bomber over the German lines near Sidi Abdel Rahman shortly before the start of the battle of El Alamein on 23/24 October 1942.
