About Erich Anton Kornfeld
Erich Kornfeld was born in Vienna, Austria 26/12/1910. Later he studied engineering at the University in Berlin but was not allowed, by order of the Nazi regime, to attend his final exams .So in 1936 he immigrated to Palestine (later Israel). His younger brother Walter Kornfeld (changed his name later to Walter Sadeh) came also with him. Their parents Ernst and Marie Kornfeld and the sister Gertrude stayed in Vienna and left in 1938 after the Anschluss (the Nazis moved into Austria) also to Israel. Ernst and his sons Erich and Walter opened a Factory (Katab) in Ramat Gan, near Tel Aviv, where they manufactured Fountain Pens and later also ballpoint pens. Some 20 years later after some bad management decisions (refusing to manufacture the new technology, ballpoint pens) the factory was closed in 1958. In 1940 Erich married Rosemarie Buchwald. They had 3 children, Daniel, Raphael (myself) and Dorit. Erich and Rosemarie divorced in 1958 and Later Erich married Anya.
Erich worked as a engineer at "Bedek" (later called IAI - Israel aircraft industry) but had to stop after an heart attack. In february 1967 he died in Ramat Gan (Israel) after another heart attack.
