Erik Paulsen Vistekleiven

Erich had a twin brother whose name was Erland. Their mother Imbjør Syversdatter and the father Poul Ericksen never married. Paul already had seven out-of-wedlock children, while this was Imbjør Syversdatter’s first illegitimate babies. Yet Erich's mother Imbjør was not an innocent young girl. When the twins were born, she was 36 years old, widowed, and had three children. As a houseman’s widow she was permitted to keep the housemanplace Nylykken under Stockstad, but her children were young, and it may have been difficult for her to cope. Paul was probably on soldier lægd at Stockstad at the time.

Erich and Erlend in the military

We find both Erich and Erlend in the military rolls. Erich is stationed in Trondheim as a carpenter, while Erlend is on military legd at Stockstad. The time period when they served is not stated.

Erich was 24 years old when he made two women pregnant at about the same time. He chose not to marry our ancestor Imbjør. Instead Mali Olsdatter was the chosen one. Our foremother Imbjør Syversdatter was left to fend for herself and Erich's illegitimate daughter Guri.

The church record shows that the 24 year old Erich married Mali in 1827. They settled at Nesset in Sjårdalen.

Erich survives Mali with 12 years. He 79 years old when he dies in 1882.
