Hello, I need some help again. A few years ago you helped me to find the parents and siblings of my Great-grandfather, Eric Hansen, who was born on 16 Oct 1840 to Hans Johanneson and Ronnaug Eriksdtr in Sperrehaugen, NO. They lived in Ringebu and on 30 Oct 1867 he married Ingeborg Hansdatter, daughter of Hans Olsen and Anne Thorsdr. In 1868 they immigrated to America and settled in Westbrook, MN, where my grandfather and his siblings were born. Apparently he changed the spelling of his name to Hanson when he got to America. Ingeborg died 20 Nov 1904 in Westbrook. In 1906, Erik sold the farm and returned to Norway. I don't know where he lived while he was there, but I am presuming he went back to Ringebu. In 1907 he returned to America with a new wife and they lived in Walnut Grove, MN until he died on 17 Oct 1915.
I am unable to find where he lived during that last year in Norway, the name of his second wife, and where they were married. Again, I am presuming they were married in Ringebu, but I don't know that. I will be very grateful if you are able to help me with this poser.
Hans died in 1891, Herman in 1945, Thorval in 1953, Even about 1941, John Jan 06 1961, Oscar Nov 14, 1966, Rudolf Oct 7, 1963, Clara Apr 25, 1970, an Emil Apr 12, 1925. Emil was found dead in Bean Lake, near Westbrook, MN It is suspected that he was murdered, but the death was ruling a drowning by accident. Oscar was my Grandfather.
When Erik came to USA, he settled a few miles north od Westbrook on a farm next to Dutch Charlie Creek, where my grandfather Oscar born. I have seen that farm. His brother Hans came over about the same time and settled on a farm about one mile north of Erik's farm and that farm is still in the family, now being operated by Hans' grandson Dale's children. Dale died a few years ago. As I read Hans Johannesen's family data, I see that his brother Osten immigrated to America May 22, 1868, the same as Erik and his brother Hans died in 1854 at 2 1/2 months! That tells me that Osten changed his name to Hans Hanson when he got here! Would you have any info on their immigration?

Eric was buried at the Westbrook Cemetery just north of the town. Thorvald was the caretaker for the cemetery and the family story is that he picked up his Dad’s headstone one year and moved to only he knows where. Thorvald was strong as a ox, they say, and he could have done that. The rest of the boys are buried there, and so is Eric, but there is no stone for Eric.
