About Erminia Borghi-Mamo
Erminia Borghi-Mamo (Paris, November 18, 1855 - Bologna, July 29, 1941) was an Italian soprano. She was the daughter of mezzo-soprano Adelaide Borghi-Mamo.
She was born in Paris where her mother sang at the Théâtre des Italiens. She studied with her and with A. Busi and started in Nice in Forza del destino (1873). She was the protagonist in the refurbishment of Mefistofele (Bologna, October 4, 1875, Erminia covered the double role of Elena and Margherita, whose success contributed greatly to her interpretation that aroused the admiration of Boito, and then sang in various theaters: Rome (1876) Paris, (1877), Madrid (1878-79), Lisbon (1879), Buenos Aires (1881) and St. Petersburg (1891).
She withdrew from the scenes in 1893, settling in Bologna. Among the works in the repertoire were Lucrezia Borgia, Poliuto, Roberto il Diavolo, The Ugonotti, Africana, Aida, The Trovatore, Guarany, Faust, Cavalleria rusticana.
She is buried at Certosa di Bologna
