Maxcy Lewis, 83, of 367 Broadway, the longtime owner of the Lewis Sewing Machine Co. in Pawtucket and former chairman of the North Attleboro Board of Assessors, died Wednesday in the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Attleboro. He was the husband of Helen (Carr) Lewis. </p><p> </p><p>Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Alfred E. and Harriet (Maxcy) Lewis. </p><p> </p><p>Mr. Lewis was later employed by the Foxboro Co., retiring 18 years ago. </p><p> </p><p>He was a member of the North Attleboro Lodge of Elks and had been an assessor for 25 years. </p><p> </p><p>Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Nancy J. Achin of Bourne and Derrith A. Dupre of Seaford, Del.; a brother, Dr. Robert V. Lewis of Providence; two sisters, Harriet Bunce of Niagara Falls, N.Y., and Winifred Anderson of Florida; and six grandchildren. </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p>Ernest was the longtime owner of the Lewis Sewing Machine Co. of Pawtucket, and was a former chairman of the North Attleboro Board of Assessors. He worked for the Foxboro Co., retiring 18 years prior to his death. He was a member of the North Attleboro Lodge of Elks.
