About Ervin Robert Frissell
From Wisconsin Historical Society: "A successful businessman in the Twin Cities during the early 1900s making his money in lumber, real estate, and other enterprises. E.R. was born in New Richmond, Wisconsin and married May Ainsworth who was also form Wisconsin. During the depression he move to Mitla, Mexico where he acquired a very large collection of Native aritifacts. This collection later became the Museo De Archeologica De Frissell and is now a branch of the National Museum of Archeology of Mexico."
Earning himself a law degree by the age of 24, he was a great businessman in both Minneapolis and Wisconsin. He incorporated in 1912 with his brother Charles and Merton, with several high investors. He also had a real estate and attorney practice with a Nichols.
He divorced Addie May and married Gertrude Ponsford during the great depression. He went with Gertrude to Mitla, Mexico to start a business there. He left behind several young children without a source of income as my grandmother told me of her experience during the 30's. My grandmother took on financial duties at a young age, working as oft as possible to help keep food on the table. She made sure to give her mother a bouquet of flowers every week even though money was tight, to try to help cheer her up, as this is what Ervin used to do for Addie May.
It is published in some books of Ervin's work and founding a museum (as well as the not so good words of workers having troubles collecting wages).
