Ervin Joseph Ostendorf

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00a.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Waite Park for Ervin J. Ostendorf, 78 of Waite Park who died Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Pierz Villa. Rev. Joseph Backowski will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from 4-9 PM Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, St. Cloud and one hour prior to mass on Wednesday at the funeral home. Parish prayers will be at 6:00p.m. on Tuesday, followed by Christian Women at 6:30p.m.

Ervin was born to Albert and Mary (Stueve) Ostendorf on April 21, 1934 in St. Anthony. He married Ludvina Schneider on August 30, 1955 in Meire Grove. Ervin worked at Mathew Hall Lumber for 10 years before joining Columbia Gear in Avon as a truck driver, where he worked for 31 years until his retirement in 1997. Ervin was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waite Park. He was an outgoing man who loved talking to others. He enjoyed dancing polka, polishing his car, cutting his lawn and spending time with his grandchildren. He especially loved to pull his grandchildren around behind the mower.

Ervin is survived by his loving wife, Ludvina; children, Karen of St. Cloud, Ronald of Waite Park, Joyce (Charles) Stommes of Sauk Rapids, Sandra Wichman of Sartell, Joel of St. Joseph and Pamela (Charles) Burton of St. Joseph; siblings, Edward (Kathy) Ostendorf of Sartell, Evelyn (Harvey) Mohs of Waite Park, Gerald (Mary) Ostendorf of Spicer, Raymond (Jackie) Ostendorf of Kandyohi, Werner (Janet) Ostendorf of Freeport, Roger (Geraldine) Ostendorf of St. Cloud, Eugene (Mary) Ostendorf of Holdingford, and Rita (Terry) Lomheim of Avon; 8 grandchildren and 6 great- grandchildren.

Ervin was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Peggy on April 28, 1970; siblings, Tony, Walter, Mildred, Helen, Lorraine and Herbert.
