Esau Bass, Jr was accompanied by his first cousins, Ephraim and William Bass, son of Jonathan Bass, and migrated from Burke County, GA to Marion County, MS, in the early part of 1820. – Esau settled with his family on Holiday Creek, about 10 miles north of Columbia, MS. Ephraim and William joined their family three miles away. He was one of the founders of Ebenezer Baptist Church, he was a deacon of the church until 1848 when he and his wife transferred membership where his children were attending to Bethany Baptist Church what was Lawrence County, but now is Jefferson Davis County. [2]
Esau Bass, Jr and Nancy Elizbeth Bass (Cross). were married 1804/05, early records in the Burke County, GA Courthouse were destroyed by fire at Waynesboro in 1858. Many records were lost, as well as not being able to access the Census prior to 1820 in Georgia. Following his marriage, he engaged in farming near what is now known as Midville, Burke County, GA He, and His wife were members of Bark Camp Baptist Church.[1]
Known and only children.
Note: Elizabeth Bass who married a cousin Jerimiah Bass, son of Jonathan Bass, brother of Esau Bass, Jr is believed to be the daughter of Esau and Nancy Elisabeth's married Jerimiah Bass in Marion County on August 16, 1836. P 22 Bass Family History by Ivan Earnest Bass.
Esau Whitstin Bass, Jr. was born in 1782 in Wayne, North Carolina, United States. His parents were Esau Bass, Sr. and wife of Esau Bass.
Esau married Nancy Bass in 1804 in Burke Co., Georgia, United States. Together they had the following children: Jeremiah Bass; Nancy Ann Weatherford; Malachi Whitstin Bass; F. Ananias Bass; Seaborn Bass; Mary Ann "Polley" King; George Cornelius Bass; Francis Simeon Bass; Elizabeth Bass; Isaac Esau Bass; Ananias Bass; Francis Simeon Bass.
He died in June 1856 in Prentiss, Jefferson Davis County, Mississippi, United States, and was buried in Bass Cemetery, Prentiss, Jefferson Davis County, Mississippi.
