Esther De Turck married Abraham Bertolet in 1735 in Oley, PA. Esther was born in Oley, PA on September 29, 1711. She was the daughter of Issac De Turck. Issac's sister, Ester, sold Abraham a farm in Oley township total ing 138 acres. The farm was on a good site containing many fine acres of land, a lovely running stream and a fine site for the manor house which he built in 1736. It was a substantial structure of stone, two stories high and was followed by the larger dwelling immediately adjoining in 1772 built by his son Daniel.
Abraham and Esther had six children: Maria born in 1736, Daniel in 1741, Elizabeth in 1742, Samuel in 1743, Esther in 1746 and John born in 1750.
Wife of Abraham Bertolet, daughter of Isaac DeTurk and Maria DeHarcourt. Mother of Maria m Daniel Hoch, Daniel, Elizabeth m John DeTurk, Samuel, Esther m George Yoder, and John Bertolet. She was born in the Palantine camp in Schoharie NY, baptized at the French church in New York City. Her baptism in French: "Baterne, amourdhuy dimance 29c d'Avril 1712, Monsieur Louis Rou, ministere, batise Esthe le Turque, nee le 30c d'Aoust dernier, fille de Isaac le Turque et Maria sa femme, presente au St. Bateme par Francois Lucas at la mere du sit enfant pareetin et Matienne. L. Rou, Pasteur." (born Aug 30 1711, bp 4/29/1712)
From Reading Times 3/20/1876 Esther DeTurk Bertolet remained a widow for thirty-two years, and died in 1798, aged 88 years. She was an estimable Christian woman, and a daughter of a certain widow named Wammerin [sic widow of Peter Wemar/Vemar/Weimar], who emigrated in 1713 [sic 1708 with her daughter Catharina, aged 2, on the Globe with Rev. Kocherthal from the Palatinate] from England under a passport from Queen Anne. On April 30, 1767, a year after the death of her husband [Araham Bertolet], she conveyed her property to her eldest son, Daniel Bertolet, for eleven hundred pounds English money.
