Eugene A. Hertzfeldt, 88, of Blair, formerly of Independence, died Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Grand View Care Center, Blair.

Eugene was born June 19, 1925 in Burnside Township, Trempealeau County to Armand and Mary (Lyga) Hertzfeldt. He married Agnes A. Marsolek October 10, 1949 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

The couple farmed in Traverse Valley until retirement in 1974 and then moved to Independence. He then was a custodian at WWTC for 22 years. He was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and loved being with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Agnes of Blair; two daughters, Beverly (Michael) Bautch of Strum and Betty (Tom) Nohl of Milton, Ga.; a sister, Mary Ann (Frank) Koval of Independence; five grandchildren, Diane (Bill) Collette, Scott Bautch, Adam, Lauren and Jackie Nohl; two great-grandchildren, Ava and Chase Collette; three sisters-in-law, Theresa Hertzfeldt, Verna Klimek, both of Independence and Amy Marsolek of Eau Claire; nieces and nephews.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Laverne Hertzfeldt.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with Very Rev. Woodrow H. Pace officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
