Biography

Eunice was born in 1716 in Lancaster, Massachusetts. She was the first child of Bezaleel Sawyer and his second wife, Judith White. [1][2]

She "owned the Covenant" and was baptized in the First Church of Lancaster on 14 January 1733 (14th of January 1732/3 in the records).[3]

She married Dr. John Dunsmore/Dunsmoor, who died in 1747. In his will, created on 14 October 1747, John Dunsmore of Lancaster, Massachusetts, mentioned his wife Eunice Dunsmore, son William Dunsmore who had not yet reached the age of 20, and daughter Catrina Dunsmore. He nominated William Richardson and John Canton of Lancaster to serve as executors.[4]

On October 11, 1757, widow Eunice Dunsmoor of Lancaster married Samuel Gemwell of Westborough.[5][6] They were married in Lancaster by Rev. Tim Harrington.[7] Samuel Gemwell of Westborough and Eunice Dinsmor of Lancaster had "entered their design of marriage" in Westborough on 3 September 1757.[8]

Births of two children of "Samuel Gamwell & Eunice his wife" were recorded in Westborough, Massachusetts:[9]

Anna Gamwell, born November ye eleventh 1757 or 1758 (last digit of year appears to have been written "8" and overwritten "7") James Gamwell, born August ye 23 1761. Her father's will, created on 30 March 1760, calls her Eunice Gambel.[10]
