There is some confusion in SAG over the identification of which Johannes Hendricus Oosthuizen Eva Catharina Louisa Oosthiuizen married on 5 March 1826. - BUT see Death Notice - link above for confirmation of her parents.

Information from the South African Genealogies Volume7 has her liseted as the wife of two men -

b1c10d1e3 - Eva Catharina Louisa Oosthuizen was born in 1809 and the marriage date given is 05.03.1826 at Uitenhage - her husband Johannes Hendrik Oosthuizen born 1798 - son of Jacobus Nicolaas Oosthuizen and Johanna Aletta Oelofse

This Johannes Hendrik son of Jacobus Nicolaas Oosthuizen and Johanna Aletta Oelofse is b1c4d1e1 - born 1798 - no marriage date is given. but Eva's bapt. date is the same as under her entry.

Only 2 children are listed in SAG - f1 is Johannes Hendricus born 1828 and f2 Emerentia Adriana with a birth date of 1851 - which I wonder about. She died 1931.

The other Johannes Hendrik is b1c4d4e Johannes Hendricus Oosthuizen, d4e2 was born 1805 and died 1878 - the same marriage date is given in his entry as under Eva's entry - 05.03.1826 at Uitenhage.

There are 10 children listed.

The first child is a girl and she is named Johanna Wilhelmina - which was the name of Eva's mother and I guess that would be right if the naming custom was followed.

The 2nd daughter was f7 - Catharina Louisa,

the third f8 Maria Jacomina which was the name of his mother.

Sons - 1st f2 -Johannes Hendricus (paternal grandfather); 2nd f3 Petrus Wilhelmus (her father's name); None of the other names follow the usual pattern.

So something is mixed up here. On the face of it it would seem that Johannes Hendrik is b1c4d4e2 is the right husband, not this one, mainly because of the names of the children. CJB
