Evan Owen was a man of affairs. He removed into Philadelphia and was a member of the City
Council, 1717, a Justice in Philadelphia county, 1723, &c, the treasurer of the city, 1724-27, Provincial Assembly 1725, and of the Provincial Council, 1726,and a trustee of the Society of Free Traders in Pensylvania,etc.He was a member of the Philadelphia Monthly Meeting,where he was married to Mary, daughter of Dr. RichardHoskins, (then deceased), 1. lOmo. 1711, (53 Friends signedtheir certificate), and had four children by her, of recordat the Arch Street Meeting. One, Esther, m. 1743, WilliamDavis, at Christ Church, Philadelphia.
