About Evelina Porter
She married David Porter on March 8, 1808. The couple received a home, "Greenbank", on the Delaware River as a wedding gift from her parents. Her father would later be elected to the US House of Representatives from Pennsylvania.

Evelina Anderson was the daughter of William and Elizabeth Anderson of Chester, Pennsylvania. She married David Porter on March 8, 1808. The couple received a home, "Greenbank", on the Delaware River as a wedding gift from her parents. Her father would later be elected to the US House of Representatives from Pennsylvania.
David and Evelina Porter had ten children. Among the children who survived infancy were five males, all of whom served in the US military. Theodore served in the US Army and was killed in April, 1846, in the war with Mexico. The remaining four sons – David Dixon, Hambleton, Henry Ogden (1823-1872), and William David – served as officers in the US Navy. David Dixon became the second person promoted to the rank of Admiral, following the death of his foster brother David Glasgow Farragut, and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
