Funeral services for Mrs. Evelyn Virginia Cole, age 81, of Cotton Valley, LA were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 30, 2004 at the Unity Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Woolley officiating. Burial was in the Cotton Valley Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Mortuary, Cotton Valley, La.

Mrs. Cole, a native and lifelong resident of this area, was born October 31, 1922 to William L. and Mattie Hilburn Martin and died Tuesday, July 27, 2004 in Shreveport after a long illness. She was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Mrs Cole was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Farmon Cole in 1990, by her parents, a son, Buddy Sherman, a son-in-law, Marlon Joyner and two grandchildren, Chester Heskett and Vickie Cole.

She is survived by her children, Sonja Joyner of Holly Springs, MS, Linda Heskett and her husband Charles of Hornsby, TN, Betty Evans and her husband, Tommy of Eagle Mills, AR, Robert Cole and his wife, Cathy of Cotton Valley, LA, Deborah Booker and Bro.
