Jonathan was born to Clement and Joan (Allen) Briggs, in Weymouth, Massachusetts, on 14 Jun 1635.[1][2] he was made freeman May 29, 1670.

Jonathan married Experience (unknown) by 1662,in Taunton.

They had thirteen children, the eight sons are named in the will, but the daughters are unnamed, they are a guess at best. (with estimated birthdates where not recorded):[3]

Jonathan died about around March 6, 1688/9, when his widow, Experience, and son, Jonathan were granted administration over his estate.

Jonathan Briggs and his wife Experience ____? were married about 1662 and had 13 children - the first about 1664 and the last 1689.

Florence (Mrs. John) Barclay, a respected New England genealogist, undertook an extensive study of the Briggs families of Taunton. Many of the early records for Taunton are lost, so hard evidence of some relationships will never be found. Her findings were published in 1957. Mrs. Barclay concluded that Jonathan Briggs' wife is named Experience, but (as S. Willson quotes above) she states that despite a "diligent search" over several years, Experience's last name at birth has never been found. Additionally, as discussed here, Experience Harvey had a different husband. With that background (and unless someone is aware of recent work that challenges Mrs. Barclay's conclusion), the best choice we can make is to accept that Experience will have the LNA

Experience Briggs was the daughter of Jonathan Briggs (1635 - 1690), who married Experience Harvey in 1664 in Taunton, MA. Experience Harvey was the daughter of William Harvey (born 1614 is Ashill, Somerset / died Aug. 15, 1658 in Taunton, MA) and Joan Hucker.
