About Fannie Cadman
Auckland Star, Volume XXIII, Issue 85, 9 April 1892, Page 8 CABMAN.-On April 7. Fannie, the beloved wife 'of Alfred Jerome Cadman.
DEATH OF M.S. CADMAN. New Zealand Herald, Volume XXIX, Issue 8847, 8 April 1892, Page 5 Although it has been known for some weeks past that Mrs. Cadtnan was in a most critical condition, her many friends entertained hopes that her naturally strong constitution would enable her to successfully to resist the complication of diseases under which she suffered, and eventually become restored to her wonted health. When it became known in town yesterday morning that her illness had terminated fatally universal sorrcw was expressed, and people of all shades of political opinion felt the deepest sympathy for the hon. Mr. Cadman in his great bereavement, The deceased lady was the youngest daughter of Mr. Joseph Bell, J.P., of Whangaroi, who is respected by all classes of the community. Mrs. Cudman came to New Zealand with her parents from Aylesbury, England, in the ship King of Italy about '24 years ago, and immediately after their arrival in his colony the family settled at Maungakaratnea, but subsequently removed to Whangarei, from which place the deceased lady was married to Mr. Cadman. Some years prior to her marriage she obtained her education at the seminary for young ladies held in Symonds street, Auckland, presided over by Mrs.Glover, where she was a universal favourite with her fellow pupils, all of whom have the kindest remembrances of Fanny Bell," and are consequently deeply sorry at her early death. During the last session of Parliament Mrs. Cadman resided in Wellington with her husband, and whilst there won a host of friends by her gentle manners and kindliness of heart, and from that quarter the greatest sorrow has been expressed in telegrams received. Mrs. Cadinan leaves on her own side her father, stepmother, a married brother in New Zealand and his family, and a married sister in England, to mourn their loss, During her long illness she was attended Drs. Haines and McKellar, and notwithstanding the fact that these professional gentlemen entertained no hopes of her recovery, they were most assiduous in their attention, and Mrs. Cadman bore her affliction with perfect patience and resignation. As we have already stated, universal sympathy is extended to the Hon. Mr. Cadman, who is left with two little children to mourn tho loss of an exemplary wife and a pattern mother.
