About Fannie Mae Gingerich

DALTON -- Fannie Mae Schlabach, 89, of Dalton, was called to her eternal reward in Heaven on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, with her children at her side.

Fannie Mae was born April 30, 1925, in Arenac County, Mich., to Edward and Fannie (Miller) Gingerich. Her mother passed away when she was 2-years-old and she was raised by an aunt and uncle, Dan and Lydia Gingerich. She married LeRoy Schlabach on Dec. 1, 1952 and they raised four children before his death on Nov. 9, 1996.

Surviving are children, Martha "Marty" (Dean) Zampieri of Massillon, Yvonne (Don) Martin of Lebanon, Pa., Luann Schlabach and special friend, Kevin Winkler of Dalton and Philip (Lisa) Schlabach of Kidron; grandchildren, Anthony Zampieri, Tim (Krista) Martin, Matthew, Michael, Alisha and Ben Martin, Jena, Jared, Justin and Jaden Schlabach; a sister, Edna Shaffer; numerous nieces and nephews; and her church family at Anchor of Hope Mennonite Church.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in her journey to Heaven by her parents; a sister, Minnie Gingerich; and brothers, Simon, Melvin and Edward Gingerich.

Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at East Union Mennonite Church, 10678 E. Old Lincoln Way, Orrville, with pastor Mike Schlabach and her son-in-law, Don Martin, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at East Union Mennonite Church or Friday one hour prior to the services at the church. Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton is handling the arrangements.
