Faris Green/Greene, of Verona was born February 24, 1856, at Richmond, Itawamba, Mississippi to Joseph Gilbert Green and wife, Annie Tranquilla Conwill.
His ancestors on both sides were Virginians; his grandfather, William G. Greene, was a grandson of General Nathaniel Greene of Revolutionary fame; his grandmother was a niece of Governor Wise, of Virginia; his father was a Confederate soldier, serving from May 1861 to April 1865.
Mr. Greene obtained his education in the public schools of Itawamba County. He did not attend college. His occupation was that of a farmer and stockman.
He was Postmaster at Verona in 1884 and in 1908 was a member of the Board of Aldermen of Verona. He was elected to the House of Representatives, for Lee County, November 5, 1907. A term that began January 1908.
October 5, 1880 he was married to Turza Harkreader, daughter of Major Absalom G. Harkreader and wife, Martha Tinnie Vivrett, of Verona. His wife's paternal family came from England and settled in Virginia; her mother's family were Tennesseans of Irish descent.
