"Old Weygand Diehl came to this
country in 1727 from Hesse-Darmstadt in Germany, where
he had been born in 1682. He had married shortly before com
ing to America, and he lost a daughter on the trip coming
over. His first wife did not live long after arriving here and
he married for the second time Eva Apollonia Horstenhofer,
who lived to be 78 years old, and by whom he had five children."
